Remember Saro-Wiwa 2006-08

Chris Fremantle worked for PLATFORM on Remember Saro-Wiwa as fundraiser and project manager 2006-2008.  He secured Arts Council England, trust and individual donations for the project.  He was also responsible for the tour of the Living Memorial to Goldsmiths College: the Pump House, Battersea Park; and Glastonbury Festival.  He co-ordinated the programme of associated events including talks, performances and discussions.

Remember Saro-Wiwa draws attention to the consequences of decisions made in London and the UK to the lives of people in other parts of the world.  Tragically gas flaring in the Niger Delta (burning off gas during the extraction of oil) continues to blight lives and pollute the environment.
