“A material response to Angela McClanahan ‘s lecture”. The exhibition statement starts with a fab quote from Zoe Todd. I first came across Zoe Todd’s writing when a piece on fossil fuels as kin was included in the Metabolic Studio readings on the Oil Industry in LA. More recently I listened to her talk at the Center for Climate Justice. I think kin isn’t just relationality. Our kin are entities in themselves with identities and agency as well as in relation to us. That being said I think anyone who can make work from the cheapest white bread, turning it into a spot the bread game is destined to win the Turner Prize. The whole show is really strong.
